What is on auction
Every lot shows its condition, a full description and photos of the actual item, so you know exactly what you are bidding on.
- Tools and equipment: power tools, hand tools and workshop gear.
- Electronics: audio, tablets, computers and accessories.
- Home and garden: kitchen appliances, braais and garden equipment.
- Outdoor: camping and leisure gear.
- Collectables: memorabilia and signed items.
What is a timed online auction?
A timed online auction takes place entirely on the website. Instead of an auctioneer calling bids in a room, each lot has a published closing time, and bidders place bids online until it closes. The highest bid at the close wins, provided it meets any reserve price.
On OGGA, a bid placed in the final 2 minutes extends that lot by another 2 minutes. This repeats as often as needed, which gives every bidder a fair chance to respond, much like the auctioneer waiting for the room to go quiet.
How OGGA auctions work
- Each auction runs for 3 to 4 days and carries 30 to 50 lots, with a single closing time for every lot.
- Register free with your name, email address and mobile number, then verify your email. Add your residential address before your first bid, as South African law (FICA) requires.
- Bid any amount at or above the minimum next bid shown on the lot. Every bid is binding.
- A bid placed in the final 2 minutes extends that lot by 2 minutes, so nobody can win by sniping in the last second.
- When the auction closes, the highest bid that meets any reserve wins. You get one invoice for everything you won in that auction.
- Log in to ogga.co.za to pay by card or EFT through Paystack. We never email payment links.
Tips for winning at online auctions
- Decide your maximum before you bid, and include the courier fee in your budget.
- Watch the lots you like: we remind you before watched lots close.
- Read the condition and description carefully, and ask us before bidding if anything is unclear.
- Remember that every bid is binding, so only bid on lots you intend to buy.
